Incandescent Lava Blocks and Strombolian Eruption
Subject: Incandescent Lava Blocks and Strombolian Eruption
Location: Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica
Notes: A large lava “tongue” near the upper-central part of the Volcano broke loose when this image sequence was made. This created a massive release of incandescent lava blocks. Note too the Strombolian eruption from the summit crater, with its characteristic “rooster tail” lava bombs.
